Learning Spanish as a second language can be fun and is easy. Spanish can also be considered a stepping stone to other languages since it is Latin based much like other European languages. The Spanish language is the primary language in more than twenty countries. Aside from that, there are dozens more who don’t consider it their primary language but many people from that country speak it fluently. It is most similar to Italian and Portuguese.

Countries like the United States have English as their primary language, but Spanish is most often used as well. Government forms, public signs, telephone recording options, and instruction manuals are usually written and recorded in both languages. Hispanics are the second largest race population behind Caucasians in the United States.

The Spanish language is considered one of the easiest to learn. It has simple rules and there are hardly any exceptions to these rules. The English language is complex and for each rule there could be up to 5 exceptions to remember. It is phonetically correct as well, so the way a word sounds is the way it is spelled.

Conjugating verbs follows a set pattern and is easy to memorize. Once the simple endings are learned, the root of each infinite verb can easily be conjugated to the appropriate form of the word. Nouns also follow an easy masculine and feminine pattern. If a noun ends in the letter “o” then it’s typically masculine. If it ends in the letter “a” then it’s a feminine noun. Changing the adjective in front of the noun is easy to do once you determine if it’s masculine or feminine.

Spanish pronouns are also going to be masculine or feminine to match the subject it is referring to. There are five different forms of the word “you” since there are different ways to address a person of respect. Spain also has a special way of saying “you” which differs from other South American countries. Learning basic vocabulary words and mastering the art of conjugation are not difficult to do and a person can be speaking Spanish in no time!
